SUPERYACHT PERSONAL WATERCRAFT (JETSKI) INSTRUCTOR COURSE
For minimum disruption to a superyacht’s schedule it may be more convenient to run Jet Ski Instructor Training from onboard. The main advantages of running onboard training are – no need for crew to travel, ability to train up to 6 crew on one course, minimum disruption to a yacht’s agenda and crew are trained on the equipment they will be training guests on. Trainers can fly to a yacht’s location anywhere in world assuming PW operations are allowed in the area planned for training.
IDEAL FOR
Superyacht Crew / Experienced riders aged 18+ with strong communication and safety focus looking to qualify as an RYA Personal Watercraft Instructor.

Jetski Instructor Courses at New Wave Training
New Wave Training (formerly Jetski Safaris) is one of the UK’s leading PWC Training Centres.
As RYA PW Instructor Courses require a minimum of 3 students we will always be honest with you and not just take a deposit (unlike some centres) until we can confirm we have 3 students keen to do the course. This avoids any last minute cancellations which can be costly if travelling from abroad to undertake the course.
Through 2025 we have ran all 6 courses with an average of 5 students per course. Our trainer has over 18 years experience training instructors who go on to work either on Superyachts or at UK based centres.

Course Overview
The RYA Jet Ski (PWC) Instructor Course
Course overview: The 3 Day RYA Jet Ski (PWC) Instructor Course builds on your existing jet ski experience and introduces a range of teaching techniques to help develop you into a competent jet ski instructor. The course is run by a PWC Trainer and on day 3 an additional RYA Moderator will attend the course. At New Wave Training we aim to get you adept at teaching from both a jetski and powerboat so you are comfortable in whatever environment you may go on to teach; whether it be from a superyacht tender, rib or jetski. During the 3 days there is a mixture of practical water based sessions and classroom theory sessions. We always aim to bring some ‘guinea pig’ students in on day 3 to give students some great real teaching practice.

Superyacht Consultancy
Services
In 2007 the RYA introduced a basic Personal Watercraft Safety Course to be delivered onboard superyachts. The aim was to be able to certify guests using the jet skis onboard the yachts. There are currently over 400 yachts signed up to the scheme.
To deliver this training, the Captain / Chief Officer or Deck Crew of the superyacht will need to train as (or employ) a RYA Jet Ski (PWC) Instructor and apply for the yacht to be recognised as an RYA Training Centre. This will require the yacht to have an inspection under the lines of the RYA requirements.
New Wave Training offers a complete package which aims to bring any yacht and crew using jet skis (Personal Watercaft) up to regulated and recognised industry standards. Within this service we will assist with liaising with the RYA, producing a vessel specific RYA PWC standard operations manual, assist in the purchase of the right training equipment required to become a recognised centre and help prepare for RYA Inspection. Alongside our onboard training this is a hassle free complete package.
