Jetski Courses at New Wave Training

We are proud to operate the UK’s largest and newest fleet of jet skis, supported by a team of highly experienced instructors.

One of the biggest differences with New Wave Training is how your course time is delivered. When you book as a solo rider, you’ll train on your own jet ski for the full day. That means more time at the controls, more practice, and a better learning experience — without having to share a jet ski with a stranger.

Many training centres pair two individuals together on one jet ski, which can significantly reduce your hands-on riding time. Our solo training option ensures you gain the confidence, skill and experience expected from an RYA Personal Watercraft course.

Where conditions allow, we also strive to take our Jetski training outside Poole Harbour, giving students valuable real-world navigation experience beyond a sheltered harbour environment. This adds significant depth to the training, develops confidence in open water and allows riders to experience the outstanding natural beauty of our Jurassic Coast.

The result is more time on the water, more hands-on experience, and faster skill development — delivering the highest-quality jetski training possible.

With a strong focus on practical water based training, you’ll develop essential handling techniques while also covering key theory topics such as weather, tides, navigation, and collision regulations—helping you make informed decisions about where and when to ride.

Training is delivered through a combination of hands-on riding and supporting shore-based instruction, ensuring skills are built progressively and with real world relevance. The course is suitable for all abilities and requires no previous jet ski experience.

Upon successful completion, you’ll receive the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency Certificate, widely recognised in the UK and internationally. The certificate is often required by marinas, harbours and insurers. It can also be converted to an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) if needed.

Jet Ski International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

The RYA Personal Watercraft (PWC) Proficiency Certificate meets the requirements for most riders and local authorities within the UK. However, if you plan to ride a jet ski abroad, some countries and hire operators may also ask for a Jet Ski International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

After successfully completing your course, you can apply electronically for your Jet Ski ICC through the RYA Website. The application is free for RYA members or £50 for non-members.
