Who are we?
New Wave Training is an RYA Recognised Training Centre based in Poole Harbour, Dorset. We have delivered professional jetski (Personal Watercraft), powerboat and instructor training for over 18 years.
Founded with a focus on quality, safety and enjoyment, we have grown to include specialist Superyacht Crew and Commercial Marine training, supporting individuals and corporate clients across the UK and internationally.
Our approach remains the same today — experienced and friendly instructors, high-quality jet skis and powerboats, and a supportive learning environment that reflects the outstanding training grounds of Poole Harbour and the Jurassic Coast.
Our Story
Jetski Safaris
2008
New Wave Training’s roots trace back to 2008 with the launch of Jetski Safaris, a jetski experiences, tours, RIB rides and training operation founded by Ross in Poole Harbour.
Operating from Salterns Marina, the business combined commercial jetski experiences with an RYA training centre under the same name, establishing a strong reputation for safe, professional instruction within one of the UK’s most active and commercially diverse harbours.
The Jetski & Rib Club
2009
In 2009, the business expanded with the creation of the Rib and Jetski Club, introducing a hassle-free, membership-based boating and jetskiing model.
This innovative approach gave members structured access to both RIBs and jetskis without the costs or complexity of ownership, reinforcing a strong community focus while maintaining high standards of on-water training, safety, and responsible harbour use.
Location Change & New Wave Club
2022/2023
Between 2022 and 2023, operations relocated to Port of Poole Marina, marking a significant evolution of the centre.
During this period, the club rebranded as New Wave Club, shifting focus away from jetski tours and placing greater emphasis on easy boating access, skill development, and professional maritime standards within Poole Harbour.
New Wave Training
2025/Today
In 2025, the RYA training centre was officially rebranded as New Wave Training, aligning the instructional arm with the wider New Wave brand.
This milestone also saw affiliation with BRP Experiences, expanding into premium jetski experiences and boat charters while continuing to deliver high-quality RYA-approved training.
Today, New Wave Training represents the culmination of over a decade of experience in professional watersports instruction, maritime education, and safe boating in Poole Harbour.

Instructor
Whether he's out on the water on anything with an engine or geeking out over charts, Rian's enthusiasm for the water is contagious. Our chief instructor is always here to give tidbits of boating knowledge.
Matt
Jetski & Powerboat
Instructor
With a background as former policeman, he brings discipline and calm to every 'on water' situation. Always the first to enjoy a bit of speed when it's time to go full throttle.

Dan 'The Man'. A flyboarding specialist, Dan has been with us from the start. Full of energy and useful local knowledge, Dan is a thrill to be out on the water with. No matter the craft!
Our Location
New Wave Training is based in Poole Harbour on the south coast of the UK. This is one of the UK’s premier locations for RYA jetski (Personal Watercraft) and powerboat training. The harbour’s naturally sheltered waters allow courses to run more reliably in varying weather conditions, reducing cancellations and providing consistent training for both students and visitors, including those staying in Bournemouth, Sandbanks and along the Jurassic Coast.
Poole Harbour also offers an excellent real-world learning environment, giving students practical experience of buoyage, navigation, collision avoidance and local harbour regulations, while operating safely alongside commercial maritime traffic and other water users — skills that are transferable to coastal waters across the UK.
