Delivered in partnership with our local MCA-approved training provider 'Fire Aid', this course includes the mandatory STCW modules such as Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting and First Aid.

STCW BST Course

STCW Basic Safety Training is fundamentally a course that all crew should receive prior to working on a commercial vessel or superyacht to cope with emergencies onboard. The training lasts a week and includes the below:

It comprises of 5 training modules including:

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting – A 2.5 day practical course that teaches you how to use fire fighting equipment onboard your vessel in the event of a fire.


Elementary First Aid – 1 day of practical training on basic first aid and resuscitation techniques.


Personal Survival Techniques – Also known as Sea Survival, this 1 day course focuses on survival techniques, abandoning ship and equipment found onboard.


Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities – A half day course that introduces the safety procedures onboard, your responsibilities of living and working onboard a ship.


Proficiency in Security Awareness – A module which includes guidance on security related issues on-board.

You can book the modules individually or all 5 days together to suit your needs. This course is based at Hythe Marine Park, Southampton, UK.
