RYA Powerboat Level 2:

This is a great course for anyone looking to get in to boating with no previous experience or for someone who has a little experience but would like to develop their competency further. Whether you are looking to buy a boat, drive a friends or potentially hire one this course is the perfect opportunity to get out on the water and develop the necessary skills. Powerboat Level 1 is not required and the Powerboat Level 2 Course is our most popular form of Powerboat Training.

Course overview:

During your 2 days on a Powerboat level 2 course we try and maximise your time out on the water. You will learn and practice a range of skills including berthing the boat in a variety of ways, picking up a mooring bout, man overboard, handling the boat at planing speed and will also learn some basic navigation techniques and be introduced to charts and passage planning. Poole Harbour is a great location for this course as it has plenty of natural training aids including a wide range of buoyage, different size channels, array of other water traffic and various different Marinas to practice berthing. Poole Bay which is just a short drive harbour gives us plenty of space to practice some faster boat handling in a nice open area.

Modules:

Launching & recovery • Boat handling at low & planning speed •securing to a mooring buoy • Man overboard recovery • Leaving & coming alongside • Marina handling • Towing & emergency situations • Basic navigation & passage planning • Road rules • Weather & tides • Aftercare & maintenance
