RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor Course:
This course is aimed at more experienced leisure boaters or people looking to work commercially on the water. It introduces night time navigational skills and more advanced powerboat handling skills to help skipper a boat in more challenging coastal conditions.

Course overview:
During the advanced course students will prepare and undertake a passage during both daylight and darkness. More advanced boat handling techniques will be developed to help skipper a powerboat and its crew in more challenging conditions. The course also takes into account some students will go on to work in a commercial environment so is a good preparation for the Advanced Powerboat exam.
Duration: 2 days + 1 night time navigation exercise
Minimum age: 17
Previous experience:
Candidates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate with a thorough knowledge of the navigation and chart work to the level of Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate. If you are not sure about your existing experience please give us a call to discuss.

Looking to work commercially as a Powerboat skipper? Most companies will require skippers to hold a minimum qualification: Advanced Powerboat Commercial Endorsement. The Advanced Powerboat Course will help students prepare for this exam.
